Pastor Sandi Hire

Picture
I am a second (or third or more!) career pastor. I felt God’s call on my life for many years.  Even though former pastors and several friends shared with me that they felt I should go into ministry, I laughed it off as an interesting but not realistic idea.  It wasn’t until I felt a physical pull to ministry, did I seriously consider it.

In 2007 I started serving a small church, began and completed Licensing School. I then attended Course of Study at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. I have been serving churches ever since.

I have been married to Dan Hire since June 24, 1978. We have two children together, along with a foster son whom we consider a son. We have three grandchildren.

My hobbies include genealogy, walking, playing games, puzzles, and reading. When I retire, I will look forward to returning to hobbies I have missed since becoming a pastor!

Dogs have always been a part of our lives, and a part of our family. Ada is our nine-year-old Alaskan Malamute who basically has us trained very well!

My favorite scripture, my “working scripture” is Matthew 25:35-40:

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’”

To me, those words are clearly what we are called to do as Christians.

"This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us." - 1 John 4: 9-12
